CO-ed Volleyball Rules

General:

  1. Games are played to one set of 25 points
  2. Finals and Semifinals are different, best of 3 (25, 25, 15)
  3. Unsportsmanlike conduct has penalties (sit out for 3 points) -judged by ref
  4. Normal indoor 6v6 rules
  5. Intentionally having a team of 6+ guys is banned (must have at least one sister on court at all times)
  6. If a team is missing people, then for every full rotation they lose a point for every player missing

Rotation:

  1. If running a libero they have to substitute with the same gender
  2. No machine gunning (Having one middle instead of two)
  3. 1 sister rule (1 sisters on the court at all times)

    Ex. 1 (Base position / serve receive)Position 1 cannot go in front of 2 or to the left of 6. Only adjacent numbers matter. (3 does not restrict 1)

In-play rules:

  1. Doubles are illegal (typically when there is excessive rotation on the ball after a set, it is deemed a double.)
  2. For the serve and hard driven ball doubles are allowed
  3. Excessive holding of the ball is illegal
  4. Net touching is illegal (Shirt or hair touching does not count)
  5. Foot fault during play – full foot over middle line constitutes a loss of the point
  6. Foot fault during serving results in loss of point – any part of foot touching the line
  7. Out of bounds – imagine there is an invisible pole pointing straight out of the net poles. The ball cannot enter the opponent’s court from the outside of the invisible pole.
  8. A block does not count as a touch. A team gets 3 touches after a hit touches a block.
  9. 8 Second service violation, must serve the ball within 8 seconds of blowing whistle
