Jokgu Rules
Game setup
- Teams: Each team typically has 4 players on the court at a time
- Court Dimensions: The court is 15 meters long and 6.5 meters wide, similar to a badminton court
- Net Height:
- For men: 1.1 meters
- For women: 1.0 meters
- Ball: A light, inflated ball slightly smaller than a soccer ball
Objective
- Teams aim to score points by landing the ball in the opponent’s court or forcing the opponents to make a mistake
Scoring
- A match is usually played in sets (best of 3 or 5 sets), with each set going to 15 points (or 21, depending on the tournament rules)
- A team must win a set by at least 2 points
Serving
- The server must kick the ball from behind the baseline to start the rally
- The server must clear the net and land inside the opponent’s court
- If the serve hits the net or lands out of bounds, the opposing team gets a point
Ball touch rules
- Players can use any part of their body below the knee to touch the ball (feet, shin, etc.)
- Headers are allowed
- Players are not allowed to use their hands or arms
- Each team is allowed up to 3 touches per possession before sending the ball over the net
- A single player cannot touch the ball twice consecutively (except during blocking)
Rally rules
- The ball must clear the net and land within the opponent’s court during a rally
- If the ball touches the ground on a team’s side or goes out of bounds, the opposing team scores a point
- Players must avoid stepping into the opponent’s court
Blocking
- Blocking is allowed but only when the player does not cross the net
- A block counts as one touch for the blocking team
Common fouls
- Using hands or arms to play the ball
- Touching the net with any part of the body
- Crossing the centerline under the net
- Exceeding the 3-touch limit
- Double-touching the ball by the same player
